No, you listen. If you can’t grasp that “I Will Buy You A New Life” is about how tiresome it is to constantly listen to people with more money than you spouting bullshit about, you know, how money is the root of all that kills, and you think there’s something politically unsound about buying new cars or, more specifically, using new cars as metaphors in narratives about reconstructing your life because your life (and love) has been ravaged by poverty, if really you can’t understand that there is literally nothing in “I Will Buy You a New Life” that glorifies capitalism and if you read it that way it is because You Have Never Been Poor, and if you can’t wrap your dumb little brains around this then you do not deserve even as much as Art Alexakis is raking in from those VIP upgrade sales on his casino tour for the retirement set.
